Ray passed away peacefully, shortly after midnight at St Joseph’s Hospital, Comox
Predeceased by, Marjorie, his first wife and survived by daughter Linda (Ted), son Gunnar (Maureen), and grandchild Tina (Drew), and three great grandchildren, niece Sharon ( Mike ), nephews Dwaine and Eric.
Predeceased by, June, his second wife. Survived by daughter Cheryl (Dave), grandsons Daryl (Christine), Joe (Erin), each with three great grandchildren, and daughter Laurie with grandchildren Anthony, Kyle, and Adrian.
6 years ago, Ray had a stroke leaving his right side paralyzed. In contrast to his dangerous job falling trees and in his spare time gardening, fishing, and woodworking, he retired to his lazy boy in front of his big screen TV.
In his younger years Ray loved to sing and play guitar, and came to be known by all his family and friends as the poor man's Johnny Cash.
Cooking was Ray's other passion. Never using a cookbook, he perfected several ethnic recipes that the family still follows today.
Arrangements under the direction of Piercy's-Mt. Washington Funeral Home, Courtenay, BC.
