

Mom was born in R.M. of Woodlands, Manitoba and grew up on the family farm in Meadow Lea, Mb. She shared many fond memories of her formative years growing up on the farm. She was active in sports playing both softball and hockey at Meadow Lea. At a young age she started playing guitar and piano. She lived in Winnipeg and worked in nursing most of her working life. She also spent a few years in Thompson, Mb and Big River Sask.
She loved country music and along with her sister Alma would frequent the dances all over the area. In 1998 Mom and Alma took her campervan and travelled from Coast to Coast. Her sister Edna and partner Art travelled most ways with them. They had a great experience.
Later in life she moved to Kelowna, BC and then to Abbotsford, BC then finally to Courtenay, BC where she lived out her remaining years.
She was predeceased by her parents George and Sarah “May-Mamie” Smith of Meadow Lea, Mb. Husband Daniel Harty, Wpg. Siblings Hugh Smith, Donalda Syrota, Angus “Bud” Smith and Alma Oliver, and sister-in-law Patricia Smith.
She is survived by her siblings Oakley Smith and Edna Plewis and sister-in-law Deidre Smith. Daughters Sarah “Maxine” Farber, Courtenay, BC and Georgina (Blair) Patterson, Oliver BC. Step daughters Gloria Ducharme (Robert) Edmonton, Karen Paquin (Kevin) and Daphne Harty of Winnipeg. Step Son Raymond Clemmons (Ann) Langley.
She was greatly loved and will be truly missed by her Grandchildren Shiloh Cooper, Melanie Mortensen, Leigh Mortensen, Laura Rosengren, Shauna Rosengren and Great Grandchildren Gabrielle, Ella, Kylie, Olivia, Elizabeth and nieces and nephews and her extended family.
She had a great love of dogs and cats. In lieu of flowers donations to the SPCA or charity of your choice are appreciated.
Mom will be laid to rest in Meadow Lea Cemetery later this year.
