It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lawrence Wayne Lansdowne, born in Alert Bay on August 28, 1947, he was the oldest son of Shirley and Hilly Lansdowne. While Lawrie was a traveler, he was a born and raised North Islander and he never wandered far from home.
Lawrie's great loves in life were his family, the Vancouver Canucks, the Seattle Seahawks, scuba diving and travel. If you ever met him, you would know this from his long stories and many, many, many jokes. He was easy to smile, easy to laugh, and his sense of humour will for the most part be missed, though his Dad jokes may be not.
Lawrie is survived by Vikki, his wife and sidekick of 45 years, his four children Kristopher, (Brandy), Matthew (Kim-Jana), Sydney and Lauren; his Grandchildren Elizabeth, Shelby, Isabella, Holley and Lukas; his siblings Judith, Edna (Greg), Alan (Barb) and Keith (Norah) and dozens of other family members.
Lawrie passed peacefully at home on Wednesday June 2nd surrounded by the family he loved after a valiant battle with cancer.
A celebration of life will be arranged at a future date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
