Ortwin Otto Karau

Otto was born Jul 18, 1931 and was predeceased by his mother, father and brother in Germany and will be missed by his brother Albert & Sister-in-law Christine, by his wife Anne, his children Coll, John, Frank and Anne Mary as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Otto immigrated to Canada in 1952 from Germany and began his career with CNR where he served for 35 years and after his retirement moved to the Comox Valley to be near his children.

A light would always come to his eyes when he was visited by his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. Opa loved living in the Comox Valley. He made it one of his passions to share his beloved spots on Vancouver Island with his family and often would say how it was the most beautiful place to live. He loved his grandchildren dearly and some of our favorite memories are of playing hopla riter and boogeyman with him when we were young. He also loved to share his German culture and heritage with his family as well.
