Ron was born in Winnipeg to Robert (Bob) and Mary Reed. After being transferred to Germany for a few years in 1965 the family returned to the Comox Valley. Ron was 8 years old at the time. Here, in his youth, he excelled at sports. In his free time he could be seen hitting the slopes at Forbidden Plateau Ski hill where he in turn became a ski instructor.
Over the past several years Ron and his father enjoyed playing horseshoes together and were successful in many competitions. Ron was known for having a big heart, always availing himself to helping his family and friends. He volunteered at the Salvation Army thrift store and worked the Kettle Drives.
Ron had a knack for repairing small engines and tinkered with anything from lamps to lawn mowers. Fishing and making pottery brought him joy. Ron was also proud and the #1 fan of his mother’s paintings often helping set up for many of the art shows.
Ron is survived by his daughter Joelena, parents Bob and Mary, siblings John (Wendy) and Susan, his close girlfriend Gail, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Words fail to express the grief this family feels from this loss, Ron will be dearly missed. May he walk in the sunshine with the God he always spoke of.
Due to Covid we will be having a family only service. If you knew Ron please celebrate his memory as your heart leads and if wish to do so, donations can be made to the Schizophrenic Society.
