Selina, I don't think I've seen you since the huge family reunion that my grandma (Florence Morrison) put together decades ago, but the thread is still there, and I recognize your eyes immediately in the main photo. I wish you peace now.

I am so sad that the world failed Salina--and now we've lost her. My heart goes out to her son and family. I spent a day with Selina in Courtney in August and know how much she missed Calgary and Huxley. She was  brave and trying hard to find her feet. I'll always be grateful for her wit and warm welcome at the Expressions open mic at Koi. May her soul find peace.

Selina you will be dearly missed. The last time that I saw you, you were doing what I think was your first stand up comedy show. I remember thinking you were so bold and brave to get up on stage and do comedy and you were great. You kicked butt and made us laugh so hard. Such a amazing woman with so many talents. We met in our expressive arts class years ago, and you helped guide me through some tough decisions with your expressive arts training afterwards. I was appreciative of the time you took with me. I’m so sorry the last few years were difficult, your memory will shine brightly for me. My sincerest  condolences to Selina’s family.

My condolences to the artistic community and family of Selina Clary. I met Selina as one our poetry artists at Cafe Koi in 2014 and we remained neighbourhood friends until this day. Selina's light and passion will be missed.

Back in the day, at the Famous Players in Country Hills, she noticed something in me—a kid with a vibrant array of hair colors and a skateboard. She didn’t just see a teenager; she saw potential. She became my mentor, guiding me toward personal growth and leadership. Her unwavering belief in me pushed me to blossom. As time went on, she continued to encourage me, opening doors to new paths and possibilities.  Selena’s impact extends beyond those formative years. She is woven into the fabric of my success in business and the foundation of my great family. She was the MC at our wedding. Though she is greatly missed, her mentorship and friendship remains etched in my heart.

I first met Selina at the library maybe 4 years ago and we immediately hit it off, she was writing up some grant and she asked my input on her project. I was flattered and a bit beguiled that this beautiful woman seemed so interested in my opinion on something I knew little about. The next time we met at the library she gave me her card & said I should call her. Selina was never shy, not even a little as her friends know.
   So I gave her a call and we went out for a meal at a sushi place where she was so fun and entertaining, It was a nice first date.
So this was the start of an on again off again relationship that lasted 3 or 4 years until she moved to BC last year.
   I have nothing but good memories of Selina she was always so kind and funny and supportive, she always complimented me on how handsome I was (a nice exaggeration) & would sometimes bring silly goodie bags of odds and ends to me at work.
   I was lucky to see her perform at few times at Cafe Koi, she was quite a performer & loved to have an audience. She was very proud of her poetry & her community activism.
We would text each other silly poems and things & go to movies or long walks sometimes. Or just spend the day in bed
I miss her quirky fearlessness & sense of adventure. 
Once she moved to Courtnay we still kept in touch w texting and the odd phone call or care package. She found a job in a bowling alley "I got a 100 score today! Ha ha"
I just don't know what more to say, she was such a fierce, fun, fiery, supportive, sweet & loving person & now she's gone
I was lucky to have known her & I will never forget the times we had together, she was one of a kind

Selina was my boss at Uptown Stage and Screen. I was a weird teenager who had strange social skills and lackluster work habits. Selina made my popcorn slinging job at Uptown feel like a cozy home in a world that felt as uncomfortable as I always was in those years. Between cleaning, bagging popcorn, and pouring drinks, she told stories full of humor and life wisdom. She had more patience for me than a boss ought to while still holding me accountable and explaining how to show up for my job (and by extension for life). I tried my hand at spoken word twice as a teen which was easy and comfortable due to her accessible and supportive organizing style. Selina was undoubtedly part of the village that raised me (during a particularly ugly time in my journey as a duckling) and I think of her with gratitude from time to time.

Sorry about your loss...  Selina was always a ray of sunshine to anyone she met...  I knew her through the local poetry community here in Calgary

Selina was always stylish, and very kind.  She loved her son.  She was creative, and fun.  She will be missed.  I was sorry to hear of her passing.  Condolences to Huxley, her extended family, and to her friends.

My deepest deepest deepest deepest condolences. Selina was amazing and one of the brightest stars ever and one of the best people in the whole wide world with a heart of absolute gold and had absolute strength. A gem. An amazing artist. Amazing mother. Amazing friend. Amazing neighbor. She will be so missed and I am so sorry your immense loss. My heart is with all rest and absolute power. Selina, you are a phenomenal woman.

Together, GISH participants raised millions of dollars for charities and amassed eight Guinness World Records while encouraging people to push their boundaries, create bizarre art, and make a game out of doing good. This particular photo challenge's prompt was Ballet Brawl in a Bar. Charbar donated the space, and a group of willing volunteers, including Selina,  showed up at 8AM to stage the scene.
