Susan May Forbes

June 28, 1945June 3, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Susan May Forbes announces her passing after a struggle with cancer, on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at the age of 75 years.

Sue will be lovingly remembered by her friends and family: brother Stanley Alexander Forbes, daughter-in-love Margaret and her husband and children, cousins Aaron and Matt Chamberlin and their wives and daughters.

Sue was born on June 28, 1945, in Vancouver and received her nursing degree from St-Paul Hospital School of Nursing in 1969. She dedicated her life to caring for premature babies in neonatal ICUs along the west coast of Canada and the United States. She enjoyed traveling locally and internationally with her brother and was proud to see her “grandkids” grow up to go to college. Before moving back to Canada, she was a purr-fect mom to several cats, including “Blackie” who lived to the ripe old age of 19. Sue’s remains will be buried alongside family on the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia.

No memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society, American Cancer Society, or Salvation Army Comox Valley Community Church.

My deepest sympathies to Susan's family.
I worked with with Sue in Overlake Hospital's NICU. She was a wonderful coworker and very dedicated to providing excellent care to all babies under her care.
I enjoyed keeping in touch with Sue via our Christmas card notes . We shared a love for the cats that were part of our lives.
I will always have fond memories of time shared with Sue.

Sue Forbes and her brother Alex joined our families when our son Mark married their sweet daughter-in-love Margaret in 1995. Sue became a close friend as we shared grandparenting joys and laughter when Emily’s and Thomas’ mom and dad (M&M) went on vacation. Sue cooked delicious meals and kept the children well-hugged and cared for. As our grandchildren grew up, we saw Sue at the family celebrations and learned to cherish her kindness and humor. In June/July 2018 Rolf and I enjoyed a lovely 4-day weekend with Sue and Alex on Vancouver Island. Our deepest condolences to Alex and all those Sue so cherished during her lifetime. She was a blessing to all who knew her. Love, Janni & Rolf
