

It is with much sadness that we announce Ed's passing, after a brief illness, at the Kingston General Hospital on December 17, 2013.
He was dearly loved by sister, Sylvia (Bob) and brother, Ken; sister-in-law, Beatrice; nieces, Alison & Natasha; nephew, Dean (Rachel); great-nephews, Aiden & wee Tyler. Ed will be fondly remembered by cousins, Steve Jr., Louise, Evelyn (Grant), Jeff, Andrea (Dave) & Andre (Ruth). Predeceased by brothers, Frank & George Jr.; parents George Sr. and Mildred.
Ed obtained his Civil Technician Diploma from Durham College and was employed as a Draftsman & Estimator at Canadian Pittsburgh Ind. and Oshawa Public Utilities. He, also, drove a tractor trailer for Yorkville Sound and assisted with product design.
Ed was a musician, playing the bass guitar, and travelling the countryside with several rock & R&B bands. His knowledge & passion for music prompted him to start his own sound engineering company, Maxi-Sound. He, also, honed his skill for building speakers and installing sound systems in commercial establishments.
His knowledge of wood-working and cabinetry came from helping his father with the family business, George Macko Lumber Co.
Ed had a kind & gentle spirit. Family gatherings were of paramount importance to him, as well as, connecting with his musician colleagues from yester- years.
Ed will be resting at the COURTICE FUNEAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway 2, Courtice (905-432-8484) where the family will receive friends from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday December 21, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday December 21, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. Cremation has already taken place.
