It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet Fletcher (nee Stewart) on Saturday October 3rd at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, with her family by her side. She put up a valiant battle against cancer and never let it take the smile off her face. Loving wife of Brent, doting mother to Jillian, Melissa, and Lindsey but subpar dog trainer to Bazinga. Predeceased by her parents Leonard and Mary Stewart. Survived by her brothers Jim (Carole), Len (late Sharon), and Chris (Linda) as well as brothers-in-law Robert and Keith. Fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Janet loved nature, whether it was seeing a rainbow after a summer rain shower, feeding peanuts to a curious chipmunk, or watching a hummingbird hover over a feeder, she would smile in enjoyment.
Janet was involved with many community and volunteer positions while raising three wonderful daughters and being active in their school events. Her dream position was when she worked for Children’s Wish Foundation. She loved to see a kid smile and would do anything to make it happen.
If you wish to make a donation, Janet had a passion when she worked at Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada and was also inspired by the work being done for cancer patients at Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre in Oshawa.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you spend a little extra time with someone close to you. It may be someone you see every day or someone you see only once in a while. Let them know how much you enjoy having them in your life.
Many thanks to the incredible nurses in the chemotherapy clinics at Markham Stouffville Hospital and Rouge Valley Scarborough Hospital for their compassion and support. Thanks also given to the Oncology Departments at Markham Stouffville and Rouge Valley Scarborough and the medical staff at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville.
In accordance with Janet’s wishes, a private family service will take place.
Arrangements entrusted to COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway 2, Courtice, (905-432-8484), and online condolences may be placed at www.courticefuneralchapel.com
“She will be forever loved and missed, forever and ever, amen.”
