Lella Elizabeth Connell

passing of our beloved mother, Lella Connell.

After a brief illness with cancer, surrounded by her family at the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry, Lella passed on March 31 at the age of 81 years old.

Family was everything to mom, as wife to Ronald Connell for 61 years, mother to daughters Shelley (Dave) and Laura (Jamie), grandmother to Caitlin (Luke) and Lucas, and niece to special uncle Ron (LoAnne).

Mom worked at Sears Canada for 30+ years making many wonderful friends. She had many talents and mastered everything she tried, folk art, sewing, stain glass, ceramics, etc. Over the last few years she spent countless hours creating wonderful digital scrapbooking keepsakes for family and friends. Anyone that knew mom knew that she had a special passion for animals of all kinds, especially her cats.

Thank you to friends and family for the support offered over the past few months and the wonderful staff and volunteers at Oak Ridges Hospice who went above and beyond in making mom’s transition to the next step in her journey a peaceful one.

A celebration of Lella’s life is planned for a future date when the grass is green and the sun shines bright. Donations can be made in mom’s memory at the Clarington Animal Shelter or the Oak Ridges Hospice.
