Lois Aline Osborne

Lois passed away peacefully at Fairview Lodge, surrounded by her children, just shy of her 82nd birthday. Lois was born to Paul and Georgina Florence Antil in Courtice, Ontario and was the youngest of eight children. She was predeceased by her loving husband and best friend of 36 years, Ron Osborne in 1993. Devoted and much loved Mother of Paul Osborne (late Susan), Karen McCraw (Tony), Dave Osborne (Heather). Cherished Grandma of Nathan, Bennett & Hannah Osborne, Holly and Adam McCraw, Eric and Sarah Osborne. Lois will be dearly missed by her sisters Shirley Lemon (late John), and Joan McKnight (Bill). Predeceased by brother Bill Whittick (Pru), sisters Lorraine Dalby (Percy), Pauline Graham (Harold), Jean Young (Bob) and Betty MacGregor (Jim). Fondly remembered by her sister-in-laws Jean, Jeanne and Rae Osborne. Predeceased by brother-in-laws Murray, George and Raymond Osborne and sister-in-law Gwen Muir (Bob). Lois will be lovingly remembered as a very special Aunt to all her nieces and nephews. Special thank you to Lois’s niece Diane Ridding, for being a guardian angel to Lois and Ron, during both of their health struggles. Lois was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was so very proud of her family. Eight years ago, Lois suffered a stroke, leaving her left side of her body paralyzed. She will be remembered forever for her positive outlook on life, constant smile, joyful spirt, sense of humour, love of laughter and music. Lois loved singing in the choir and continued to do so at Fairview Lodge. She was very active in her church family. Lois loved people and became friends with everyone she met. She was the first to give everyone a compliment. Lois has left behind a wonderful legacy of love and friendship for everyone whose lives she touched. Lois loved her cottage and cherished her many years there with her family and friends. She enjoyed watching her precious birds, the magnificent sunsets and making s’mores with her grandchildren around the campfire. Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at Fairview Lodge for their excellent care, compassion and love for Lois during the past seven years. Thank you to The Wynfield, who cared for Lois for eight months, after the Fairview Lodge fire. Lastly to Sunnycrest, where Lois resided for seven months when she first had her stroke in 2010. Special thanks to Patricia Marshall, Lois's PSW, that made her cottage trips possible, for the past seven years. Arrangements were entrusted to COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL. Thinking of all your family . Although I have not seen any of the Osborne crew for some time, I do recall many happy times with Ron and Lois and kids when we were neighbours. Lois was very kind to me when I first moved into the neighbourhood and supported me when I was a new mother. I remember her with great fondness. Helen

Thinking of all of you today.
I have so many wonderful memories of your Mom when we were growing up as Courtice neighbors. There was a warm and sincere sense of caring for each other in that community and your Mom was a true example of that.
You will miss her but the memories will remain and in the days ahead will help to ease your feeling of loss.
Love and friendship.

Paul, Karen and David,

I want to extend my deepest sympathy for the loss of your mom. She was such a special person, and the obituary was very well written. She will certainly live on in our fond memories. Her courage, endurance, positive attitude and smiles come so readily to mind. She was certainly dealt some very diffiicult hands in this life, but played them with dignity and grace. She was also dealt some good hands though, and her family in particulaar was such a source of pride and joy--and rightfully so. The love she shared with Ron was an inspiration to all. Her steadfast and ongoing dedication after they lost his battle (for it was certainly fought together) was exemplary, and so much more than many of us would be capable of. Her dedication to her community and her church were a source of inspiration, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity I had to visit the cottage that brought her such joy. Our lives should not be measured so much in years as in the friends we have made and the work we have done to make this world a better place, and in those regards, both Lois and Ron were to be commended on a race well run. I love the fact that she maintained her music and singing to the end; she continued to touch lives from wherever she was situated; and she continued giving the world her lovely smile in spite of her many challenges. I wish I could be there today to celebrate her life with you, but be assured that I have much to celebrate in that regard and will be there with you in spirit. I count myself very fortunate to have been one of her many friends. My fond love and sincere condolences to all of you.

Sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom.
My Mom, Anna O'Brien, and Lois were both in B wing together at Fairview and at Wynfield for the 8 months after the fire. Unfortunately when they went back to the new Fairview they were on different floors, but your Mom would always make a point to say hello when we met. She was a very nice woman. I know she will be missed

Lois met Jayden (10) last summer at Fairview Lodge. They developed an instant connection. She had such a special bond with him and they remained friends throughout the fall and winter. She made volunteering so rewarding and lots of fun.
We will both miss her very much.
