Margaret Joanne Brear

It is with the greatest regret and tremendous sorrow that the family of Margaret Joan Brear announces the sudden passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend on Tuesday 24 September 2013 after a brief period in Lakeridge Health (Bowmanville). Joan was born in Brantford, Ontario in March 1930.

Our mother had been enduring serious illness quietly for some time but only made it known when the days became too difficult to manage without help. She was a fiercely proud and strong woman who always cared more for others than herself.

She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Donald James Brear and her beloved daughter Anita. She is survived by daughter Deborah Lynn McEachern, son Randall Todd Brear his wife Karin and son Stuart Donald Brear and his wife Kathleen.

Her grandchildren Scott and Steven McEachern, Jonathan and James Brear, Ryan Brear and wife Virginia and Wendy Betteridge and husband Mark already miss her beyond belief.

Her great-grandchildren Nicholas, Max, Lola, Jack and Isabella carry her love and legacy with them into their future.

We wish to acknowledge the tremendous kindness and compassion of the doctors and nursing staff as well as the extended care support team at Lakeridge Health (Bowmanville). Heartfelt thanks to Doctors Voinov, Schlosser, Kennedy, Sirdhu and Vincent Ho and nurses Amy, Holly, Julie, Kathryn, Rebecca, Monique, Shelly, Erin, Victoria, Sunita and Sylvia. Apologies to those not mentioned.

Visitation will be held at the Courtice Funeral Chapel (1587 Highway #2, Courtice Ontario, L1E 2R7, 905-432-8484) on Saturday September 28, 2013 from 2pm-3pm, followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, her wish was that donations be made to The Hospital for Sick Children Foundation.

A private interment with family attendance only will follow at a later date.
