

Al Sosa passed away on August 4, 2013 at the age of 92. He was born in El Paso Texas on January 13, 1921 to Yonesto and Guadalupe (Sosa) Mashita. He served in the Navy as a Seaman 1st Class, and received his basic training a San Diego, California. He served onboard the U.S.S. Nevada, the U.S.S. Bassin, and the U.S.S Mission Bay. Al saw action in Europe and the Pacific. He earned numerous medals, including the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Medal, European-African Mideast Medal, WWII Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal. He joined the Army– State Military Reserves in 1985, for 11 years he would train at local military bases and was promoted to Staff Sergeant.
Al’s wife Armida preceded him in death on June 18, 2012 and their son Craig September 23, 1984.
He is survived by his loving family; Linda Julian, Michael Sosa, Denise Staggs, Richard Julian, Lorraine Wild and Pamela Sosa; Grandchildren Lisa, Cassandra Chickanosky, Heather Wild, Levi Sosa, Justine Sosa, Cody Wild, Dillon Sosa, Ian Staggs, and Seth Sosa; Great-grandchildren Brandon and Logan Chickanosky.
Al & his family spent their lifetime together in La Puente. He worked building generators and starters most of his life. He loved taking his family and friends to the desert where they enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was the one to always do something silly to make everyone laugh……… He will be missed by all that loved him!
