I want to thank everyone for coming today to celebrate the life of our mom, grandma, sister-in-law and friend: Florence Mary Fisher. Our mom was a very devout catholic and attended St. Theresa Catholic Church in Alhambra for over 50 years. She was very proud of her Polish descent and enjoyed making traditional dishes such as Oxtail soup, Beet soup, Chardaniena (Mom loved soup) Polish sausage, Gumbkies and for dessert Crulers (which were very messy with the powdered sugar.) She loved to play Bingo with her friends and was actively involved in the American Legion in many capacities including President. Our mom adored her pets so our family grew up with cats, dogs, birds, hamsters and mice. Our mom worked various jobs but her passion was working for the Alhambra Unified School District for Granada Elementary School. She loved caring for children and was willing to work wherever needed as a librarian, teacher’s aide, crossing guard or school yard supervisor. You could not walk into a store with mom thinking you were going in for 5 minutes for milk and eggs – everyone knew Mrs. Fisher and would see her in an aisle and stopped to talk to her yelling “Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Fisher”. If you were lucky you made it out in 2 hours. Most of all mom dedicated her life and was proud of her family no matter how dysfunctional. I know in my heart mom is happy up in heaven talking politics and religion over a friendly game of poker with her two beloved husbands (who were also best friends), her mom Lottie, brothers Hank and Frank, best friends Corrine and Neil. I also know mom is making crulers for them- that is a lot of crulers – Mom please save some for us! Everyone loved our mom and she dedicated her life to loving so many people and touched their lives in so many ways. She was a remarkable person, always loving and caring for children and family. This is our time to celebrate her life and be proud of all of her accomplishments and the lives she touched with her simple and loving ways. We love you mom and we will miss our more than you will ever know.
