my name is susan . ellen is my sister and i am ione hoffs youngest child. and i was also her primary care giver the last 2 1/2 or 3 yrs of her life. during which time she was battling alzheimers. the disease is what took her life but not without a fight. this time spent with my mother was the most rewarding and fulfilling time of my life. i recvd so so many blessings i couldnt begin to count. i love you mom with all my heart and i thank you for always being there for me too!!!!

Ione Hoff was also my mom, but only by choice, not by birth right.  Our lives became intertwined when I became friends with her daughter Sue at age 12.  Many years later, I would marry her son, Bill.  Somewhere in the middle of those two events, I discovered her other daughter, Ellen, whose friendship and guidance have been invaluable to me.  And finally, there is Brett, her grandson, without whom I would never have had the honor of experiencing motherhood.  I am so grateful to this woman whose own family became my own.  It was a path that was meant to be, and I'm ever grateful that it was.  I will always be grateful to Ione for sharing her family and her love with me.

Ione Hoff was my mom.  She had three children, Sue and I survive her, our brother, Bill died in 1987, a terrible blow to all of us.   She was dearly loved by her children and her grandchildren.  She had a good, long life with her loving husband, Orris.  At the end, she struggled mightily as her mind and body failed her, and although we prayed for God to take her, it is very hard to say goodbye.  But, I know that she is happy now, pain free and reunited with Bill.
