

Joe was born to a Polish-Italian family on November 8, 1944 in Ambridge, PA. He moved to California in the late 1940’s, settling in Covina in 1950. Joe graduated from Covina HS and attended Mt. SAC before going into the Army in 1967. He served 15 months in Vietnam as a troop and supply convoy truck driver in the 446th Transportation Company, returning home Christmas Day 1968. He graduated from Cal Poly Pomona, eventually earning an MBA from Pepperdine and a JD from Southwestern Law School.
Joe married Marie Harris of Pasadena in 1972 and celebrated 40 years of marriage on June 10, 2012. He was a longtime resident of San Dimas, serving on the city planning commission for 10 years. Joe worked for nearly 40 years at Southern California Edison, spending almost his entire career as an attorney in their Law Department. He retired in 2010 and kept many longtime friends.
Joe was a proud father of three sons who all graduated from Damien HS and college [Univ. of San Diego, Cal Poly Pomona (La Verne MBA), and Cal State Fullerton]. He enjoyed coaching baseball for San Dimas-La Verne Pony-Colt and later traveling the country to watch his son’s college baseball career. Joe had a wide range of hobbies and interests over the years including jogging, landscaping, law and politics, Abraham Lincoln, the Steelers, Italian sausage, and his beloved golden retrievers. In the last decade, Joe traveled the world with family and close friends including trips to South America, Europe, and two return trips to Vietnam.
Joe is survived by his wife Marie, three sons, Mark, James (Autumn) and Michael, brother Albert (Christine), and numerous close cousins, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, Sr., mother Regina, and sister Angela.
A Rosary will take place at 7pm on Wednesday, June 27th, at Custer Christiansen Mortuary - Covina. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, June 28th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church - Covina. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joe’s name to City of Hope National Medical Center or the USO Warrior and Family Care Program.
