Anthea Edith Claire Ellis, 65, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2026, at Lakeview Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on September 18, 1961, in Summerset East, South Africa, Anthea was the beloved daughter of the late Charles and Marigold Weddell.
Anthea spent her early years growing up in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, before moving to Bloemfontein, where she met the love of her life, Kevin. The two were married in 1986, beginning a beautiful journey together that would span 43 years of love, devotion, and countless cherished memories. In 1990, they moved to New Jersey, where they began raising their family. In 1993, life brought them to Louisiana, where they made their home in Covington and built a life filled with family, friendship, and love.
Anthea embraced the vibrant culture and spirit of New Orleans, enjoying its traditions, lively celebrations, and the joy of Mardi Gras. She loved socializing and spending time with family and friends, always appreciating the special moments that brought people together. An avid bowler, she enjoyed participating in several leagues throughout her life. She also loved traveling and camping, creating some of her family’s most treasured memories during camping trips and days spent at the beach. These simple but meaningful adventures became lasting reminders of the happiness she found in being together with those she loved.
Above all, Anthea was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and dear friend. She had a compassionate heart and a generous spirit, always willing to go above and beyond for others. Her kindness, warmth, and genuine care touched the lives of so many, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her family was the center of her world, and the love she gave so freely will forever remain in their hearts. Deeply rooted in her faith in God, Anthea found strength and purpose in her beliefs, which guided her life and were reflected in the love and compassion she shared with others.
Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved her, the beautiful memories she created, the lives she touched, and the love she shared will continue to live on. Her legacy is one of devotion, kindness, faith, and the enduring bonds of family. She will be remembered not only for the life she lived but also for the love she gave and the difference she made in the lives of so many.
Anthea is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Kevin Ellis; her children, Sean Jonker, Wayne Jonker, Andrew Ellis, Mark Ellis, Tony Ellis, Scott Ellis, and Sara-Jayne Cronje; and her siblings, Phillip Weddell and Andrew Weddell. She also leaves behind a beloved host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, dear friends, and extended family members who will forever treasure her memory. Though they must now learn to navigate life without her physical presence, they will carry her love, wisdom, and cherished memories with them always.
Anthea’s life was a beautiful testament to the power of love, the importance of family, and the grace found in a life lived with faith and compassion. Though she will be deeply missed, her love will remain an everlasting presence in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest peacefully in the loving arms of God, reunited with those who have gone before her, and may her family find comfort in knowing that a life so lovingly lived will never be forgotten.
