Anthony Patrick Cado Jr.

March 3, 1944 – August 21, 2026

Anthony Patrick Cado, Jr., son of the late Anthony Patrick Cado, Sr. and Julia LaCava Cado, passed away on August 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and encouragement. He was a devoted husband, loving father, adoring grandfather and great-grandfather.

Anthony shared 48 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Cheryl Ford Cado. Together, they built a beautiful family.

Anthony was a loving father to Dana Cado Davis; Denise Cado Kays (Mark); Christi Cado Vallee (Ryan); and Blake Cado (Allison). But perhaps his greatest joy in life was being a grandfather. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and treasured every moment he spent with them. Whether he was cheering them on at sporting events or dance revues, spending time together, sharing a laugh, or simply being present, Anthony made each of them feel deeply loved and supported.

He was, without a doubt, their biggest supporter and encourager. He believed in his grandchildren wholeheartedly and never missed an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments, encourage their dreams, or remind them how proud he was of them. His love was steady, generous, and unconditional. His grandchildren knew they could always count on PopPop, and the memories they made with him will remain among their most treasured gifts.

Anthony is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Jordan Martinez; Bryson Adams; Brittani Greenan (TJ); Chloe' Kays; Mayci, Caden, and Braxton Vallee; and Jac, Sam, and Kathryn Cado, as well as his great-grandchildren, Harper and Brody Greenan. Becoming a great-grandfather brought him yet another special kind of joy, and he cherished Harper and Brody dearly.

He is also survived by his sisters, Sandra Cado and Cynthia Robinson (the late Richard); nieces Julie Duhe' (Andrew) and Stacie Breithoff (Clint); nephew Bruce Cuccia (Gabbie); and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews whom he loved dearly. He was a beloved brother-in-law to Pam and Timmy Lamarque and Sandy and Allen Wright, and he treasured the bonds he shared with his extended family and close friends.

Family was always at the heart of Anthony's life. Growing up, he was exceptionally close to his beloved aunt and uncle, the late Josie and Emile Hussey, who held a very special place in his heart. Those early bonds of love and family remained an important part of who Anthony was throughout his life.

Anthony spent his entire professional career in the shipping industry, working first at Delta Lines and ultimately retiring from International Shipholding Corporation. He formed valuable professional and personal relationships during his career, many of which continued far beyond his retirement.

While his family will deeply miss his unwavering support, they will also celebrate the beautiful life he lived. Anthony leaves behind not only wonderful memories, but a lasting example of what it means to love your family wholeheartedly.

His greatest legacy will be found in the lives of the people he loved most—especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Through them, his love, encouragement, and joyful spirit will continue for generations to come.

He will be profoundly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at the Grace Funeral Home (450 Holy Trinity Drive). A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at the Grace Funeral Home Chapel (450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington). Graveside Services will follow on the grounds of Grace Funeral Home at St Lazarus of Bethany Cemetery.
