A longtime resident of Lacombe, LA, Tony became passionate with fishing and hunting at a young age, working alongside his father and uncle in a small store next to the family grocery, Puglia's Grocery on St. Claude Ave., New Orleans, LA. This is where his dreams began, opening his own Sporting Goods Store on Veterans Hwy., Metairie, LA in 1978. The rest was history. Some people own a business, but Tony built a legacy. Customers and friends far and wide relied on his knowledge in the business and became lifelong friends and business associates. Whether it was shopping for sporting goods, or standing beneath the great Shark for Mardi Gras. Further, he was a philanthropist giving to causes from schools, kids in need, and community causes.
Above all, Tony was the Patriarch of his family; he gave selflessly and devoted himself wholeheartedly to those he loved.
Tony is survived by his loving wife, Donna Lally Puglia, his son Anthony Puglia Jr. (Kaci), and stepdaughter Heather Drum Asevedo (Preston). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Hunter and Haleigh Puglia, step-granddaughter Dara Drum, his sisters: Celeste Puglia, Constance Monroe (Tony), Marianna Cabiran (Mike) and Therese Mason (Teddy).
He is preceded in death by his parents; Marianna LaNasa Puglia and George Puglia.
The family would like to thank his Compassus Hospice Team for providing their care and support during this difficult time, with special thanks to his nurse, Joy.
