Barbara Melancon Morrison

Barbara “Bobbie” Morrison, age 74, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, August 23, 2026. A loving and giving wife, mom, grandmother, sister and friend – she will be remembered for the wonderful person she was and missed tremendously.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dewey “Teddy” Morrison, her parents Roy Melancon, Sr and Audrey (Henderson) Melancon, and her brother Roy Melancon, Jr.

Bobbie is survived by her son, Rene’ Charles Eppling (Shannon), stepdaughters Ashley Morrison (Scott), Candy Derenbecker (Mark) and Brandy Sylve, her grandchildren: Kaylee (Taylor), Brandon, Maghan (Chase), Angie (Daylen), Gabrielle, JJ, Sean and Skylar along with her great grandchildren: A’mani and Alexis. She is also survived by her siblings: Kathy Jarrell (John), David Melancon (Joan), Nancy Poole (Jeff) as well as many nieces, nephews great nieces and great nephews.

Bobbie was born in Donaldsonville, LA and raised in St. James. She graduated from St. James HS in 1969. She was a graduate of Charity School of Nursing Class of 1972. During her expansive nursing career, she was the Director of Outpatient Nephrology for Ochsner Main Campus and later a Patient Advocate for People’s Health. Upon her retirement she worked as an advocate for CASA serving children across the greater New Orleans area.

Her greatest joy in life was her Family. She loved holidays and getting together with family and friends. She found great pleasure in giving the most thoughtful and unique gifts. She loved sewing and could be found in her sewing room making personalized items most days. She enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels feast in her backyard and especially liked visits from cardinals and paired doves. Her home was her “happy place” where she made everyone feel welcome. She was an avid fan of LSU ,particularly the Women’s Basketball team, and tolerated the Saints. She was always ready to play a game, with Mexican Train (dominos) and Cards (hearts or spades) being her favorites. She enjoyed long talks, quiet mornings, binging her favorite tv series and her tour of steakhouses across St. Tammany Parish – especially the Sinatra Room at Desi Vega’s where she spent many treasured anniversaries with the love of her life Dewey “Teddy” Morrison.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
