Bertrand "B.J." John Cassou III

Bertrand (B.J.) J. Cassou, III, 46, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on April 22, 2026. Born on February 27, 1980, in Metairie, Louisiana, he was the cherished and only child of Bertrand (Randy) and Gwyn Cassou.

B.J. loved many, many things. Among those things were boiled crawfish, mushrooms, fish, ice cream, snowballs, steak, heck he enjoyed all food, a good drink, napping, the Saints, Holy Cross School, Nola, Da Parish, PBS programs, movies too numerous to list, little kids, his 1978 Bronco, his 1997 low rider Chevy S-10, his 2011 Tahoe, slogan t-shirts, some of which his mother disapproved, his beloved dog Sparky who preceded him in death, all dogs, goats, music, especially his all-time favorite Guns ‘n Roses, and above all, his family and friends.

He was a Holy Cross Man, having graduated from Holy Cross in 1998 where he made lifelong friends. He attended Delgado Community College but soon decided it was not for him. That’s when he went back to work at a friend’s grandfather’s plumbing company, where he worked during the summers while in high school. He completed his plumbing apprenticeship and earned his journeyman plumber’s license soon thereafter. At the time of his death B.J. worked for A&A Mechanical where he enjoyed the commercial plumbing work, but he especially liked working with the people at A&A. He was a member of the UA Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 60.

B.J. is survived by his parents, Randy and Gwyn Cassou, his girlfriend Kelly Detillieu and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, lifelong friends that are like family and his Godchildren, Mo West (Meghan Sposito) and Taj Sposito. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Granny Anna and Paw Paw Bert Cassou, and Maw Maw Ann Adams and Grandpa Charles Okronglis. B.J. will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, Louisiana on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 9:30 am with funeral service to begin at 11:30 am. Interment will be private at a later date.
