

Betty W. Campbell, age 89, of Mandeville, LA passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021. She was born on August 28, 1932 in New Orleans, LA to Julius and Marie Wollfarth.
Betty is survived by her children, Stephen R. Campbell (Kathleen), Susan Campbell Smith (Ron), Denise Campbell Jackson, Mary Campbell Murray (Bob), Foster Son Ken Hagedorn, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild . She is also survived by one brother, Larry Wollfarth.
Betty is preceded in death by her beloved husband Oscar Campbell, her daughter Cecilia Campbell, and her parents.
Betty was born in New Orleans and spent her early childhood in the Irish Channel area of New Orleans. Her mother Marie passed away when Betty was 11 and she moved to Rosedale, La to live with her grandfather. She was reared by her grandfather and four aunts. She attributes her faith and values to their care, love, and guidance. She graduated from Rosedale High School as Valedictorian. It was in Rosedale that she met her future husband, Oscar Lee Campbell. They were married for 54 years until his death in 2007.
Oscar and Betty moved to Gonzales, La in 1953 and reared their children on the family farm. Her many grandchildren loved their time at granny and granddad’s and spent a large part of their young lives there.
Betty was an avid gardener and loved their small farm and spending time at their camp in Pierre Part.
In 2008, she moved to Covington to be closer to her children and made many new friends and became “granny” to all that she met. In 2017, she moved to St Anthony’s Assistant Living and enjoyed her years there. She made an entire new community of friends and became a surrogate mother to many of their wonderful staff.
Betty was a devout Catholic and her faith was the foundation of who she was. She was a loving Christian and was loved by all who knew her.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 76940 Gum St., Grosse Tete, LA 70740 on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Due to COVID limitations and restrictions, the service will be private. Friends and family that will be unable to attend can access live stream on Facebook through Grace Funeral Home. Interment will follow the services in Rosedale Cemetery in the Village of Rosedale, LA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Campbell may be made to The Society of St. Vincent De Paul. Donations may be mailed to P. O. Box 127, Baton Rouge, LA 70767.
