She is survived by her father Richard J. Petre, Jr., her mother Tamra “Tami” (Mayard) Baudoin, her sisters Reagan Patout (Jed) and Brooke Stelly (Thomas), her nephew Jude Patout, and her nieces Ava Patout and Isabella Stelly (for whom Brittany was “Aunt P”).
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Richard and Doris Petre, and Royal and Hazel Mayard.
Brittany was born in Lafayette, Louisiana. She graduated in 2006 from the Academy of Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau and received degrees in English from ULL and LSU. She lived in Seattle for years, working in the Seattle Public Schools system.
Brittany was one of life’s fragile souls. Her reticence, decency and empathy for so many were unmistakable. Her desire not to burden others was unwavering. Her privacy was so important. Her passion for great literature and contemporary fiction, for movies, old and new, and for the television series “Frazier” was well known. She was amazingly well read. Brittany treasured her school years at Sacred Heart and her time in Washington state. And she cherished her dogs.
The many who loved Brittany pray she has now found peace. For us, her memory will not fade.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Brittany’s life at the Chapel of the Academy of Sacred Heart in Grand Couteau, 1821 Academy Road, Grand Coteau, Louisiana, on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Brittany may be made to the Academy of Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau or Acadiana Animal Aid in Carencro, Louisiana, at https://acadianaanimalaid.org/.
