OBITUARY

Dennis Clanny Richard

May 25, 1940March 24, 2020

Dennis Richard passed away at the age of 79 on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. Dennis was born in Basile, Louisiana on May 25, 1940 and joins his parents, Clanny Richard and Laura Bellon Richard in heaven. He was the beloved husband of Connie Wroten Richard for 56 years, hero to daughter Denise Richard Feraci (Gerard), creator of adventures to grandchildren Elizabeth Singletary Stagno (Kyle) and Joseph Singletary. He was a very proud great grandfather to Eleanor Stagno and Oliver Stagno and “favorite Uncle” to many nieces and nephews. Dennis was a very proud Vietnam Veteran who served in the National Guard and the Air Force. He also served as a Deputy and later a Detective for the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Department for many years. He dedicated his life to serving others and helping those less fortunate. He loved working with wood, building bird houses, duck calls and pirogue’s, hunting and fishing. He could always be found bringing his grandchildren on “adventures”. He loved giving them “true stories” to tell. Nothing ever needed to be embellished when he was around. He will be terribly missed and will be honored in a memorial service at a later date.

A true friend that will be greatly missed. He was always willing to visit, listen, help, and share memories. The vacancy he has left will forever be unfilled. Take care my friend and God speed.

This man was one of the most important people in my life, encouraging me to be anything I wanted to be. I wish everyone in the world could have known him. He shared his knowledge, his wisdom, and his humor with everyone he met, along with whatever you could carry home if you mentioned you liked something. He would give you anything. He gave me everything. I will miss our laughing conversations so much! He was the only man I could debate with, aside from my husband, without feeling like I was going to blow my top from frustration! :) He listened. He cared. He was my Uncle.

My Deannie Boy, as I liked to call him, was a big brother to me. He was so much more than a 3rd cousin. I will love and miss him until we meet again. Connie and Denise y’all are in my prayers. I love you both very much.
