Edward Anthony Jones, Jr., a resident of Covington, LA, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023. A native of New Orleans, LA, he was born on December 27, 1943 to Edward Anthony Jones, Sr. and Marion Fournier Jones.
“Buggy”, as he was affectionately known, was baptized at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, graduated from St. Augustine High School, and attended Junior College in San Francisco, California. He served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Thailand and Pakistan until his honorable discharge in 1966. He was a former employee of the U.S. Postal Service, Furniture Mart, and most recently Federal Express. He enjoyed golfing, the Silver Slipper Casino and watching sports.
Edward is survived by his daughters Patrice Jones Honor and Ladatra Sanders; his sister Leah D. Parker (Charles); seven grandchildren Andrielle, Kirstyn (Terry), Kiara (Mike) Jones, Krysten and Kaylan (Mikquel) Samuel, Jarred and Jasmine Caffey and Jasmine Blackman; ten great-grandchildren, one nephew Charles Parker, Jr., two great-nieces, and one great-nephew. He was a father figure to Hari and Nyerere and Nikki Brown.
Edward is preceded in death by his wife Vernice Harrell Jones, his son-in-law Morris Honor, Jr., his parents Edward and Marion Jones, and George Fournier.
Relatives, friends, and employees of Federal Express, Zachary Industries are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM. Serving as pallbearers: Terry Gullage, Mikquel Chest, Garnet Marshall, Michael Williams, Jarred Caffey and Charles Parker, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Dwight McKenna, Charles Parker, Sr., James Colly, Sr., Wallace Colly and Bernard Colly. A reception will follow at Grace Funeral Home, Covington, LA.
