Gerald, currently residing in Mandeville, La, was born on January 24th, 1936, in Lafayette Louisiana. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School and Southwestern Louisiana Institute. He also served in the Louisiana National Guard.
On February 13, 1960, Gerald married his sweetheart, Carolyn Lavigne. He made sure everyone knew the gift he had in his bride. He was her great protector and loved her like Christ loves the church.
Jerry spent most of his professional career working in sales and sales management, including George H. Lehleitner and Co, Raytheon, Amana, and Bosch.
Jerry loved life and lived it to the fullest. His interests included golf, hunting, and fishing.
Jerry was an active member in his church, receiving “The Order of St. Louis” for his service. He served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, and served as a member of St. Vincent de Paul. He was a member of “The Fishers of Men” and “The Men of St. Joseph”. He also helped establish the Novena to the Holy Spirit on the Northshore. He was also active participant in the pro-life movement. Heaven will greet him with a host of souls he prayed into the kingdom. He drove the causeway bridge every Saturday morning, rain or shine, for years to make sure to pray for families and children in distress. Jerry was a man's man. He was a leader for his family and all who needed a word of wisdom or an ear to hear a problem. Jerry magnified Jesus and would silence a room when he prayed. This man's man would completely change as he would prepare to pray. His posture changed, his voice changed, he knew he was going before the throne of God. He understood he was just a man and that God was truly the Creator of all. He magnified Jesus in his life and expressed that in the way he prayed. He invites you at his passing into glory to follow him to the feet of Jesus and worship the One who created you.
Gerald is survived by his wife Carolyn of 65 years, their 3 sons, Andre (Lisa), Doug (Sue), and Gerald Jr. (Patti), 12 grandchildren, Ben, Ruth, Miriam, Rachel, Nathan, Samantha, Chad, Cameron, Kathryn, Kallie, Katie, and Emma, and 16 great grandchildren, his siblings Martial, Kenny, Bert, and Becky.
