

Gertrude was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas S. Palozzola for 60 years. She was the loving mother of Nicole P. Blanchard (Jerry), Donna P. Carlin (Kirk), and the late David J. Palozzola (June). Proud Nonna of Laura C. Dorcey (Tommy), Emily C. Bruno (Ernie) and Dominic D. Palozzola. Great Nonna of Giuliana Lamothe, Chance Dorcey, Carlin Dorcey, Grace Dorcey, and Giada Bruno. She was the daughter of the late Arthur A. Missey and Gertrude L. Missey. Sister of Margaret M. S. White and the late Catherine M. Rhoto. Gertrude is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives who will forever cherish her memory.
Gertrude was born and resided in New Orleans, Louisiana. She moved to Chalmette, Louisiana in 1970, and to Covington, Louisiana in 2006. She was a parishioner and tireless worker of St. Mark Catholic Church in Chalmette, Louisiana. She especially loved working on the St. Joseph Altar, St. Mark Christmas Boutique, and being a member of the St. Mark Italian Club. She was a longtime member and officer of the St. Bernard Homemaker's Association. Gertrude was a recipient of the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion. Since moving to Covington, Louisiana, she has been a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Gertrude will be forever remembered as a devout Catholic, and loving wife, mother, and Nonna.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests masses in her memory at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Covington, or Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Chalmette.
Visitation for Gertrude will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 beginning at 10:30AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00PM. Gertrude will be laid to rest at St. Bernard Memorial Garden following services.
