

Gilda M. Deeks, 95 of Mandeville passed away on October 1, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 6, 1929 in Belize City, Belize to the late Ignacio Juan Martinez & Rosita Edith Batty Martinez. Gilda is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Godfrey Martinez, Joan M. Stott, Reynoldo Martinez, and Jessie M Bourgeois.
Gilda grew up in British Honduras-Belize and lived there until she was 47. The family would come up to Louisiana every summer to visit family. Gilda decided to move her and the family to Louisiana in 1976 and settled in Metairie. This is where she raised her family. Gilda worked as an Accountant for Easter Seals Society for 26 years before retiring at the age of 72 in 2002. Then in 1997 Gilda moved to the North Shore where she resided until her passing.
Gilda was a beloved member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where she volunteered as a receptionist for many years. She was a member of the Daughters of British Empire. Gilda was also a member of the Belize Association of Louisiana.
Family meant everything to Gilda. She enjoyed cooking and having Sunday gatherings at her home. Gilda loved her tea, and requested a cup whenever anyone was at the home. Gilda had a charm and charisma like no other, and when she set her mind to something the task always got done. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to so many.
Gilda is survived by her loving children, Angel “Lito” (Leota) Ayuso, Rosana Ayuso, Alan (Ashley) Deeks, Andrew (Rhonda) Deeks, and Amanda (Phillip) Boles; grandchildren, Lito, Lori, Ashlynn, Austin, Amber, Alexandra, Brooke, and Pierce; siblings, Greta Vollenweider, Elizabeth Fogarty, Ignacio Paul Martinez, and Rose Fogarty Cutrer. Gilda also leaves behind to cherish her memory 6 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 11 am until 1 pm at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church (501 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington). A Mass will be celebrated at 1 pm on Thursday, October, 9, 2025 at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church (501 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington).
