How lucky I was to have Homer touch my life.  I never had the privilege of meeting him in person, but he helped me grow over the past decade as I learned about the maritime industry. I will never forget the first time I spoke with him on the phone. We couldn’t understand a word each other was saying, our accents were so different, and we just laughed and laughed over it. I know he will leave a giant hole in his family, and I will pray for you all. I am thankful that I knew Homer and will always remember him as my good friend and mentor.

We pray that you and your family can find some peace is these difficult times.  Homer was an exceptional guy in every way & we were blessed to have his friendship all these years.  His kind and caring disposition is something I’ll always remember.  If only the world had more like him.  

As a next door neighbor of 21 years I thought we had solved all the worlds problems over side-yard chats and occasional cocktails, until I watched the news.  I guess we missed a couple things.  I always stopped him to chat when he was out in the yard or walking the dogs & I still catch myself looking for him.  He was bigger than life & his presence will be missed.

Godspeed to you and your family and we'll keep all of you in our prayers.  

I was very blessed today to be able to attend the service for Homer. Beautiful tribute to a super special guy especially the proper Army honors ceremony and flag presentation. I loved my time working with Homer at DQSC.  It was nice to see many of the old steamboater family and of course, our dear Missy. My condolences to you and your family and know I will be praying for you.

It was privileged to work with Homer for the past thirty years. I had the opportunity to see what a great man he was. I will miss him dearly and wanted to extend my sympathies to you and the family.  Homer was a friend and mentor for me and he was a solid go to for many and no matter the adversity he had the solution always available in his mental Rolodex. I will miss his camaraderie and his genuine gift of being Homer.

Mr. Homer was such a kind man.  He always asked about our two daughters who attend college in Texas.  His dedication to walking the dogs was admirable.  Our neighborhood streets will definitely miss his presence.  Many condolences to you all.

Homer was a great man! I worked alongside him at American Queen Voyages for the past 9  years, and he was such a pleasure to be around. As a fellow New Orleans local, we really bonded at work. He was always so sweet and welcoming- made me feel like a part of the AQV family as soon as I met him. He will surely be missed by all of us here at work, and I know by all of his friends and family even more so. We are lucky to have met a man like Homer!

So very sorry about Homer's passing.  I had the great pleasure of working with him at American Queen Voyages.  He was always so friendly and professional, and although we didn't work in the same office, I always looked forward to catching up with him in person at the Christmas party.  Homer is so very missed by me and many more at American Queen Voyages!

We got to know Homer as he walked his dogs daily through our neighborhood without fail.

I will miss hearing “Hey Rick” as Homer passed our house.

We spoke about our families, the weather, the dogs etc.
I truly looked forward to seeing and speaking with Homer.
He always had such an upbeat and positive way about him.

We truly will miss Homer.

Missy I am so sorry for your loss.  Homer was a lot things to so many people.  I am one of those people..To go to work knowing that he would be there to wake the roosters .  A comfort to me and a daily gift to everyone that worked the vessels, office's and warf. Homer touched every Delta Queen employee, hangs down.
So I sit here with tears running down my face. I sit here with rears recalling so many memories.

Homer was a great mentor to me early in my career as he was to many.  I was fortunate to remain in contact with him all these years after Steamboatin.  I am so blessed to have had this man in my life.

Im saddened to hear of Homer’s passing as we always seem to think of ‘legends’ as immortal beings who will always be with us. Though I havent seen him for many years, I adored him at DQSC!  He truly was one of the hardest working ORGANIZED men I have ever seen. To run the warehouse “stores” for all the boats was no easy task and everyone was needy. Homer never complained, always smiled and ALWAYS had a kind word for us as we passed through the warehouse to go into NOLA. He will definitely be remembered as a ‘legend’. My sincerest condolences to his family.

Homer was a wonderful neighbor and he will be missed!  You could always count on him for a wave or a quick word when he was out walking the dogs.

Missy I am so sorry to hear about Homer's passing! He really was a legend and a blast to work with! He was the true MVP of DQSC!

Worked with Homer back in the 80's with the Delta Queen Steamboat Company.  He was a beaming light for us all and a professional.
     May he rest in peace and my condolences to his lovely wife Missy who is always fun to be around.

I will be humbled and most honored to officiate at the memorial service for this great man. I am sure he lived a loving and honorable life and will be missed by all who loved him.

We are so sorry for your loss. Mr. Homer will be greatly missed. We looked forward to seeing him on his walks and sharing conversation. He was always kind, caring and concerned for his neighbors. Truly a bright light in the neighborhood.

We were blessed to have Homer as our neighbor for 25 plus years. He was a kind, caring , family loving man. He will be greatly missed by our entire family. He walked his dogs religiously 2x day for miles and the whole neighborhood will miss his presence. Rest in Peace, Homer. 

Missy, Macie, Mandy, my heart aches for you all. Keep his spirit alive and the memories close to your heart. I truly believe he is watching over you and his grandchildren.
