James is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate,Yvette C. Benson and his loving children: Lauren, Lindsey, and Hayden Benson. He is also survived by his siblings: Dr. Robert Benson (Kerry), Mark Benson (Red), Paula Benson, Karen Ramsay (Brad), and Patrick Benson (Fran). Jim was an uncle to 13 nieces and nephews.
Jim Benson was beloved by all who met him. He was a loving husband to his wife, Yvette, for 29 years and a devoted and ever-present father to his three amazing children.
A native New Orleanian, Jim was an alumnus of Rummel High School and Loyola University, where he received his Juris Doctorate. His kind, soft-spoken, generous and witty nature drew people to him in every chapter of his life. He loved to travel, play video games, and was an accomplished athlete. But his two loves, near equal to his love for his family: the New Orleans Saints and all things Disney. If he was not at a Saints game, he was planning his next trip to Disney World. Though he was an extremely successful entrepreneur, he would always say, “Being an attorney is my profession, but working for the Saints organization is my passion.” His keen wit was enjoyed by many, including his Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity family. He became a Sig Ep at Loyola University, was a member of the alumni board for years, and was the first ever inductee into the Sigma Phi Epsilon Louisiana Gamma Hall of Fame. He was a one-of-a-kind husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Heaven will shine a little brighter with him in it.
