James Manuel Brewer Jr.

James M. Brewer, Jr., age 83, of Mandeville, LA passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021. He was born on June 28, 1938, in New Orleans, LA to James Manuel Brewer, Sr. and Catherine Winnie Trahan Brewer.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Brewer; his children Christi L Siravo (Tom) and Melvin J Lacrouts III (Alyssa); and grandchildren Alyssa Bonura, Mason & Miles Lacrouts, & Vic Di Pietro (Haley); and great grandson Luca. He is also survived by a host of family and friends.

James is preceded in death by his son James M Brewer III, his two grandsons James Brewer IV & Josh Brewer. His sisters Mary Catherine & Phyllis as well as his mother and father.

James is a proud veteran of the US Navy, a successful businessman in several ventures. Mr. James worked extremely hard for his accomplishments in the business world. He was a very giving and loving man and strong minded in his beliefs of right and wrong. He would call you out in a blink of an eye, there wasn’t much he wouldn’t say to anyone like it or leave it. A true firecracker. At the same time, he was the most giving and compassionate person that would feed you if you were hungry, pay your bills if they needed to be paid, in short give you the shirt off of his back. He was well respected throughout our community, everyone knew “Mr. Jim.” He never met a stranger. He loved a good joke and always had one to tell you. James loved his family and always put them first. His favorite saying when he lost a friend and would look in the obituary was, “He was a good man”, now we say to him, He was a good man, and will be dearly missed always and forever. We know he is giving them a GO at the golden gates of heaven.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte Street, Mandeville, LA 70448 on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, with visitation at the church beginning at 10:30 AM followed by Mass at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow the services at Southeast Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery, Slidell, LA with a graveside service beginning at 1:30 PM with Military Honors.
