

It is with a broken heart, our family announces that James “Jimmy” August George, age 71, of Covington, LA, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026. He was born on October 10, 1954, in New Orleans, LA, to James Edward George, Jr. and Helen Ohler George.
Jimmy is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 51 years, Cheryl Dauterive George; his children Heather George Arnold (Jerome), Jessica George Egan (Jason); and grandchildren Hannah, Tyler, Jake, and Claire Egan and Nathaniel and Faith Arnold. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Newby (Arthur), Betty George, Peggy George and Debra George; Sister-In-Laws Cindy Cash and Merle Felger (Gregg) and many nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was a retired boilermaker after 33 years and a proud union member of Boilermakers Local 37. His famous words to his boilermaker friends was “Hey Brothermember”. He was known for his comical personality. He loved music, especially the Rolling Stones.
Jimmy was a lover of war history and enjoyed visiting the battlefields. He loved horse racing, casinos, mountains and was blessed to have traveled to many wonderful places. Most of all he loved time with his family and was the best Papy to his grandchildren, leaving them with so many fond memories. His life was cut short by a long battle lost to Alzheimer’s disease. Jimmy will be missed by all who loved him so very much.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church (501 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington). A Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Graveside services will follow at St Lazarius of Bethany Memorial Garden (450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington).
