John L Jourdan, 77, of Mandeville, LA passed away on June 6, 2025 at St. Tammany Hospital. He was born on February 24, 1948 in New Orleans, LA to the late Lucien & Estelle “Tilly” Jourdan. He is preceded in death by his parents.
John graduated from East Jefferson High School in 1966. After High School, John joined the United States Navy, and worked on the flight line for the Naval Air Command. John later attended Delgado Community College and then on to University of New Orleans where he graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering. John worked for Hydraulic Supply Company before his retirement.
John worked hard but had many hobbies. He enjoyed sailing and being on the open water. John also enjoyed playing golf. If you knew John, you knew his bright personality that would light up a room. He never met a stranger, and always had a good time. His life revolved around his friends and family, and they meant everything to John. One of his other pastimes was playing games and especially phone games with friends and family. To say John was one of kind is an understatement. He was life of the party, the cool Uncle, and the beloved brother and friend. John’s legacy lives on in all of us, and we will all have a toast in his honor.
John is survived by his sister, Jeanne Rogers; nephews, Paul Wisler (Andrea Lettman), and Jordan Wisler; niece, Jaime (Brandon) Wingate; and best friend and roommate, Brian Mayo; great nieces & nephews, Ashley, Jacob, Mason, Jack, Camryn, and Julian. John also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of friends and extended family.
Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 30, 2025 at St Louis #3 Cemetery in New Orleans (3421 Esplanade Ave, New Orleans, LA 7119).
