Mr. John P. O'Connor

John was the beloved son of the late John F. O'Connor and Catherine O’Connor, who survives him. He was a cherished brother to Betty, Billy, Eileen, Tommy, Kathleen, Kevin, and Maureen, and was preceded in death by his brother Patrick. He was the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews, and lifelong friend to many.

On January 14, 1978, John married the love of his life, Margaret "Peggy", and together they shared nearly 48 years of marriage built on partnership, humor, and unwavering love. He was a devoted father to John Michael (Theresa), Katie (Tom), and Matthew (Linden), and an immensely proud grandfather to Maggie, Johnny, Mary, Rory, Oliver, Michael, Liam, Levi, and Sammy.

John was known for his quick wit, kind heart, and generous spirit. He had a way of making people feel welcome and loved, often through laughter. A loyal Chicago sports fan, he loved watching the Bears and Cubs, but nothing brought him more joy than cheering on his grandchildren at their football, baseball, soccer and basketball games, taekwondo and gymnastics events. He was their biggest fan, rain or shine.

John’s legacy lives on in the family he adored, the stories he told, and the countless lives he touched with his warmth and humor. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at the St Anselm Catholic Church (306 St Mary Street, Madisonville, LA). A Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 pm at St. Anselm Catholic Church (306 St Mary Street, Madisonville, LA). A luncheon will follow at the Abita Roasting Company Madisonville (504 Water St, Madisonville, LA).
