Jack was the beloved husband of Martha Schell for nearly 53 years. Devoted father of Paul Schell, Casey Schell Levy (Kevin), and John Thomas Schell, Jr. (Rhonda). Proud "Pop" of Randall Schell, Samantha Levy, Amielle Schell, Veronica Schell, and John Thomas Schell, III. Brother of Karen Vocke (Ed), Roy Schell (Ernestine), and the late Roxanne Schell. Jack is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Jack dedicated 14 years serving as a Commissioner of Fire District 4. In 2006, he was Mandeville's Citizen of the Year for all of his help during Katrina. Jack was a devout supporter of the Mandeville Police Department. Jack was a devoted coach and supporter of the Fourth Ward Youth Sports.
A Memorial Visitation for Jack will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Friday, March 6, 2026 beginning at 10:00AM, with Mass following at 12:00PM. Jack will then be laid to rest at St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Gardens. The family asks that donations be made in Jack's honor to St. Tammany Parish Hospice.
