Kathryn Schmitz LaBruzza, a long-time resident of Mandeville, LA passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the age of 64. She was born on February 22, 1959, to the late William Schmitz and the late Rose Drago. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Joseph LaBruzza, Sr.
She is survived by her brother, William Schmitz (Geryl), stepchildren, Elizabeth Knight (David), Joseph LaBruzza, Jr., Rebecca LaBruzza (Jamie Wallis) and Brian LaBruzza (Tania Sander); sister-in-law, Alice Jean Johnson (Ferrell), brother-in-law, Anthony LaBruzza (Linda). Long time friends, Linda Leon, Alex Carcamo, godsons, AJ Batlle, Moises Batlle and Noah Batlle; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She worked in construction along side her late husband for 30 years in St. Tammany Parish. She also worked for Kangaroo/Circle K for 13 years before retiring to take care of her ailing husband. She had a love for all animals, especially horses, dogs, and cats.
The family would like to acknowledge the amazing, caring staff of St. Tammany Hospital, 3rd Floor Oncology, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Northshore Oncology Associates and Northlake Pulmonary.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 12:00 PM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.
Burial will follow the services in St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden under the direction of Grace Funeral Home. Following the burial there will be a reception at Grace Funeral Home.
