October 27, 1953 – October 25, 2026
Marcus John Meyer, 73, of Lacombe, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, laughter, and a legacy of love that will live on through his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Marcus spent many years making his home in St. Bernard Parish before eventually settling in Lacombe with his beloved wife of 45 years, Anne Marie Meyer.
Marcus was a carpenter by trade, but to those who knew him, he was so much more. He was a true craftsman, a man with gifted hands who could build, fix, or create just about anything. There was rarely a project too big, a challenge too difficult, or a problem he couldn’t figure out. His strong work ethic, determination, and incredible talent were just a few of the many qualities that made him so special.
But perhaps Marcus’s greatest gift wasn’t what he could build with his hands—it was the joy he brought to those around him.
Marcus had a personality that could fill a room. He was funny, quick-witted, and always knew how to make people laugh. He was hardworking, strong-willed, and, as his family would lovingly tell you, just a little hardheaded. He had a way of making even ordinary moments unforgettable, and the stories and laughter he leaves behind will be treasured for generations.
An outdoorsman at heart, Marcus loved Golf, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed cooking, especially his famous fried deer meat, a family favorite that will forever bring back memories of time spent together. Whether he was outdoors, working on a project, or surrounded by family, Marcus found happiness in life’s simple pleasures.
Above all, Marcus was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His family was an important part of his life, and the love and memories they shared will remain his greatest legacy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Anne Marie Meyer; his son, Shane Meyer, and his wife, Carol; his daughter, Angie Kucera, and her husband, Chad; his beloved grandchildren, Ryder Faber and Cameron Meyer; his sister, Sharon Tellez, and her husband, Vince; his sister-in-law, Cindy Meyer; and his niece, Alison Meyer Taylor (Nicholas) Angelle Chaisson (Henry), Theresa Daigle (Rodney) and Marissa Moniz and many more nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his cousin, Lise Chaplin, and her husband, Alan. Lise held a particularly special place in Marcus’s heart, sharing a bond with him that was more like that of a brother and sister.
Marcus was preceded in death by his loving parents, John Meyer and Daisy Meyer, and his brother, Julin P. Meyer.
Marcus leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind lessons in hard work, the importance of family, the value of laughter, and the reminder that a life well lived isn’t measured by what we own, but by the people we love and the lives we touch.
Though his family will miss his laughter, his stubborn determination, his skilled hands, and the unmistakable presence that made him who he was, they will carry a piece of him in their hearts forever.
The hands that built so much in this world may now be at rest, but the love he built within his family will stand forever.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at Grace Funeral Home (450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at the Grace Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside Services will follow at St Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Park.
