Mitchell James Christen

Mitchell James Christen, of Mandeville, Louisiana, passed away on November 26, 2025 at the age of 73. Mitchell was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 28, 1952 to Charles Henry Christen Jr. and Shirley Carday Christen. Mitchell was a long-time resident of Arabi, Louisiana.

Mitchell was the beloved husband of Vickie Christen for 50 loving years. Proud father of Troy Mitchell Christen (Stephanie). Brother of Charles H. Christen III (Darlene), Brien J. Christen (Lydia), and Tammy J. Gettys (the late Billy). Mitchell is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Mitchell loved Mardi Gras, the New York Yankees, the New Orleans Saints, Tulane Green Wave, and the Jesuit Blue Jays. Mitchell was known to be the life of the party. You could often find him on Bourbon Street after a few shots of Patron and a Cherry Bomb. Mitchell took great pride in his family, his dream being for his son, Troy, to attend Jesuit High School. He made every sacrifice to ensure that dream came true.

The family would like to express their gratitude to St. Tammany Parish Hospice for the devoted care they provided to Mitchell and his family.

A Memorial Visitation for Mitchell will be held at Grace Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 beginning at 10:00AM, followed by a Christian Service at 12:00PM. There will be a Final "Send Off", complete with The Mardi Gras Mambo, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a shot of Patron in Mitchell's memory.
