Ralph Edward Oakley

Ralph Edward Oakley, age 91, resident of South Boston, MA, recently of Covington, LA, passed away on June 27, 2023. He was born on August 25, 1931 in Columbus, OH to Walter Oakley and Dorphal (Hale) Oakley.

Ralph is survived by his children Bryan Oakley, and his wife Lisa of Sharon, MA and Barry Oakley, and his wife Patricia of Covington, LA. Ralph was a devoted grandfather of Jennifer and her husband Jared Weissbrot and their children Penina, Nechama, Esti and Herbie; Caitlin and her husband Scott Ness and their children Parker and Levi; Danielle Oakley, her partner Bryan Murphy and her children Alexa and Saige Hurt; Matthew Oakley and his partner Erin McDonnell; and Helena Oakley and her partner Ryan Buckley. He is also survived by his sister Helen of Texas, sisters-in-law Betty Hodges and Vita Hodges and many nieces and nephews.

Ralph is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years Ellen S. (Sister Hodges) Oakley, his parents and his siblings Walter, Jr., Donald, Leatha and Betty (Oakley) Nicodemus.

Ralph was born and raised in Ohio. He is a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Navy. He and his wife Ellen, were past members of the Castle Island Association, South Boston Senior Neighborhood House, and Dorchester Couples Bowling League.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial services at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 10:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM.
