Rebecca “Becky” Goostrey, 79 of Mandeville passed on October 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 4, 1947, in New Orleans to the late Amos Oelking, Sr. & Audreta Oelking. She is preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Rita Oelking; Brothers, Amos Oelking, Jr. and Raymond Oelking.
Becky grew up in the New Orleans area and graduated from Chalmette High School in 1966. She met Wes in 1970 while playing volleyball. They were wed on March 17, 1973, on St Patrick’s Day. Together they raised their family in Chalmette. Becky worked as a Legal Secretary for many years before retirement.
Becky enjoyed her trips to the casino. She also loved to cook, watch crime shows, and watching her beloved Saints play. Becky was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and especially grandmother to her family. Her legacy lives on in all that knew and loved her.
Becky is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Wes Goostrey; children, Erica (Chris) Carrington, Christine (Brian) Zitzmann; grandchildren, Emilie, Liam, and Alison Zitzmann; and sister, Audreta “Dee” Richardson. Becky also leaves behind to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Grace Funeral Home. Friends and Family will have Words of Remembrance at 2:00 pm.
