Richard is survived by his beloved wife Charlene Ray Benton; his children Richard Frank Benton, Jr. (Helene) and Charlotte Benton; and grandchildren Justin (Haili) and Michael. He is also survived by his great granddaughter, Adley.
Richard is preceded in death by his mother, father and brother Gerard Benton.
Richard retired as Captain of the New Orleans Fire Department where he served for 35 years. He loved traveling to Florida for many trips to Disney with his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow the services in St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden Cemetery.
