

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Violeta Jociuviene; his sister, Edita Jocius of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; his son Albertas Jocius of Mandeville; his son Ignas Jocius and wife Emily Hackney Jocius of Baton Rouge; and grandsons Oliver Jocius (Albertas) and Lukas Jocius (Ignas).
Originally from Lithuania, Rimantas was born in Kaunas on September 9th 1961, and grew up in Lithuania. He graduated from Kaunas Technology University in electrical engineering. He married his high school sweetheart, Violeta, and had two sons. He moved to Louisiana in the 90’s and made Mandeville his home. Working in IT for 30 years, he thrived as a Software Engineer/Analyst for many companies such as Avondale, Litton, Northrop Grumman, and Huntington Ingalls.
Rimantas will be remembered as a man that loved talking to anyone, he was a conversationalist and a character. Anyone who had the pleasure of talking to him will remember his uplifting and humor-filled conversations. Always looking ahead to new technologies, he enjoyed speaking with people around the world about his ideas and listening to others’ views and ideas. He avidly used technology as a tool to create group discussions with people around the world and would always share the diverse conversations he would have with them to others.
He loved embarking on road trips and traveling throughout his life. Early on in life he traveled throughout much of Europe. Once in the US, he continued his love of travel and visited many memorable places with the company of his wife and children creating everlasting memories.
He was an avid reader both for seeking knowledge and entertainment. He loved reading stories of science fiction as much as he loved reading about physics and technology. He never stopped questioning things nor expanding his knowledge of the world and beyond.
He loved his Family, Friends, and many acquaintances he met throughout his life. He will be dearly missed by those that have had the pleasure of having known him for the witty, charismatic, and cheerful person he was.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life service at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. with visitation on Monday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Inurnment will follow the services in St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden Cemetery.
