Robert James Troncoso, Sr., age 72, entered eternal rest in the early morning hours of Thursday, October 16, 2025. Robert was born in New Orleans, LA to the late Arthur B. Troncoso, Sr. and the late Edna Davis Troncoso and is survived by his beloved partner in life, Suzanne Nogues, his sons, Robert “Robbie” Troncoso, Jr., Randall “Randy” Troncoso, Russell Troncoso and wife, Melina. He was preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Troncoso, and is survived by his loving brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur Troncoso, Jr. [Donna] and Kenneth Troncoso [Gail]. Robert was Poppy to his grandchildren, Myles Troncoso and Juliana Troncoso. He was Uncle Robbie to his nephews and nieces, Arthur Troncoso, III [Stephanie], Lori Troncoso Kilgore [Patrick], Lisha Troncoso, Kenneth Troncoso, Jr. [Gigi], and Kris Troncoso [Lesley].
Robert grew up in Old Jefferson, attended St. Agnes School, and was involved in youth sports at Jefferson Playground where his father gave his time coaching for over 30 years. After graduating from East Jefferson High School, he earned his college degree in business from the University of New Orleans.
The time Robert spent coaching his boys as they played youth sports was cherished, leaving both Robert and the boys with enduring memories. He had a fondness for coaching basketball as his father had done years before.
Robert had a long and extremely successful career in commercial real estate, first as a broker, then leaving an indelible mark in corporate real estate development for over two decades. After retiring from corporate life, he established his own real estate investment business for an additional two decades. He took great pleasure in using his unique expertise to give back to St. Tammany Parish, his community of over forty years. He served as a long-term president of the Lochmere Homeowners’ Association then served proudly as a commissioner on the St. Tammany Parish Planning and Zoning Commission.
There was no music Robert didn’t love, and he surrounded himself with it his entire life, playing guitar and singing in bands when young then picking up the guitar again later in life to relax. There was always music which sometimes made for a spontaneous dance with his love.
Always athletic, Robert loved golf, a sport he came to later in life. How many people can say they made a hole in one? Whether playing on courses close to home with his brothers, his boys, or his friends; or enjoying the country’s great courses while on adventures with his love, he was happy [unless there was lightning].
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA from 11:00am – 1:00pm. Following visitation, a Mass will be celebrated at 1:00pm. Interment will be at 2:00pm at St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Gardens, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. A charity that was dear to Robert is the Shine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, AL.
