Romulo known by friends and family as “Rolo” is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Myrna Montecillo Solon; along with their daughter Karen (Chris) Hebert and grandson Jacob. He is also survived by his siblings Eduardo Estevez; Barbara Talalay; Alice Solon; Yolanda O’Connell and Edi Sachs. He was preceded in death by his parents Olympia and Romualdo and his sister Sally.
Rolo graduated college with an Accounting degree from San Jose Recolletos in Cebu City, Philippines and was working in local banks until he obtained his immigrant’s visa in 1977. He and his wife came to New Orleans to be near family. He was hardworking and dedicated in all that he did. Prior to retirement he worked as a boarding agent with a shipping agency in the ports of New Orleans for 20 years. He has lived in Covington for the last 20 years.
Rolo loved fishing, teaching Jacob how to play chess, reading history books, watching sports and playing blackjack or Mahjong with friends & family.
Relatives and friends are invited to join us in his memorial service at Grace Funeral Home at 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 with visitation on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm followed by Mass at 6:00 pm.
Private interment will take place on Monday, March 4, 2024.
