Ronald W. Alexander, M.D., FCAP of Mandeville, LA passed away peacefully, September 12, 2021 at the age of 87, his wife was at his bedside. He was born in Dalhart, Texas April 20th, 1934. Ron graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1959. After serving his country in the US Navy as a Lt. Commander, flight surgeon, he did a residency and fellowship at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. Upon completion of his residency and fellowship his life was totally dedicated to academics. He was a professor of Pathology at University of Texas, San Antonio, TX, University of Florida, Gainsville, and University of Alabama, Birmingham, AL. His last few years of practicing pathology were in Ocala, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents Reba Kennedy Alexander and Philip Alexander. Ron is survived by his wife, Clara Gayral Alexander and two daughters, Dr. Rani T. Alexander (Nigel Holman) of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Robin J. Alexander (Gregory Kodim) of St. Kitts, West Indies, two brothers James H. Alexander and Jo Mark Alexander of Texas and nieces and nephews.
Ron enjoyed many hobbies, his favorites were photography and wood turning.
The family extends special thanks to Traditions Health, Hammond and Fidelis Northshore 1, Mandeville.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the services in St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden adjacent to Grace Funeral Home. A reception will follow the interment at Grace Funeral Home.
