

Ronald “Ronnie” Thomas McDermott, fifty-four of New Orleans, Louisiana and formally of Philippi, West Virginia passed away on May 30th, 2026. He was born on May 9th, 1972 in New Orleans to the late James Ronald and Joyce Arlene McDermott. Ronnie is preceded in death by his son, Keaton James Poling McDermott.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Ronnie had a passion for cooking Louisiana cuisine such as gumbo, fried seafood, and crawfish, and always made sure everyone had a “good bite.” After Hurricane Katrina, he moved to West Virginia, where he continued to grow his family and where he found his love for the outdoors. Taking pride in his southern roots, Ronnie never met a stranger and he would be the first to lend a helping hand, even if they were an Atlanta Falcons fan. WHO DAT! Ronnie had a profound love for his dogs, especially his Rottweilers who were always by his side.
Ronnie is survived by his daughter, Kinsley Elaine Poling McDermott; wife, Holly Poling McDermott. Ronnie was cherished by his, aunts, uncles, siblings, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family members. He found great joy spending time with his loved ones, creating memories and cracking jokes. He will be greatly missed for his guidance, unwavering support, and contagious laughter.
