OBITUARY

Taylor Branham Hovis

May 3, 1989April 21, 2021

Taylor Branham Hovis passed away on April 21st, 2021 in Madisonville, LA at the age of 31. He was born in Metairie, LA and has been a resident of the Northshore for the past 25 years. He is survived by his mother, Pam Hovis, father, Terry (Kimberlie) Hovis, two brothers, Nathan Hovis and Harrison Hovis, and grandfather, Joseph E. Branham. He is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Madaleen G. deArmas whom he loved and adored dearly, and paternal grandparents Ralph and Mildred Hovis. Taylor had kind eyes and a warm smile. He was very outgoing, made friends wherever he went, and touched many hearts. He loved playing sports as a child and excelled in soccer over the years; playing club and High School soccer as an “All-State” goalkeeper. His passion for soccer was a huge inspiration in both of his brother’s lives and they played together often. He worked as a Sous Chef in many prominent restaurants in the area and because of his natural talent was very successful and wanted to make a career for himself in the industry. In recent months Taylor spent a lot of quality time with his family, took up fishing and really enjoyed it. Taylor will be missed by everyone who knew him. As he was a big dog lover, and in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Northshore Humane Society 20384 Harrison Ave., Covington, LA 70433 Ph: 985-892-7387. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial celebrating Taylor’s life at GRACE FUNERAL HOME, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, on Saturday afternoon, May 1, 2021 at 4:00. Visitation will begin at 2:00. Interment will be private at a later date. An online guestbook is available at www.gracenorthshore.com.

So sad to see this today. Taylor was my Sous Chef at Forks and Corks in 2016. He was a great friend both in and out of the kitchen. I saw so much potential in him and was pleased to see him meet the daily challenges I heaped on him. Rest easy my friend. I will never forget you.

I’ve only knew Taylor for a few months but he was super sweet, caring and heart warming person I’ve ever meet and I’m sorry for the lost. He had the most silliness sense of humor and knew how to make a persons day he will be missed. I wish I could of talked to him one last time that he is an amazing person and that he was truly inspiring person if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be going back to school . He was one of my closest work friends and my prays reach out to his family.

Pam,
Daniel just told me about Taylor and it took my breath away. He was always good natured and sincere. I remember when he wore those glasses. I have thought of him often and regret not reaching out. Words cannot assuage this grief but I promise to pray for him always. Broken-hearted,

Although I haven't seen Taylor in years, I have fond memories of him as a toddler when Pam and I were in nursing school. Beautiful boy and ever so sweet and such a handsome man. My prayers are with all of Taylor's family. I can't imagine your loss and pain.

Knock, knock. I opened my door & there stood Taylor “Nathan has to come home”, he said. There were many times I would see Taylor, Nathan & my son Ryan playing
In the front yard. Taylor, being the bigger brother, always had an advantage when playing soccer, baseball, etc... & many times Nathan & Ryan would stop the game and complain of the unfairness Taylor had over them. My memory of Taylor was that he was a quite guy, smart & talented. Our family enjoyed being your neighbors in Mandeville & wished we could have stayed longer. Our hearts are break knowing that Taylor is no longer with you. His life will be remembered & loved by many. The Maneffa family is praying for you.
