Vivian “Beth” Thibaut Scott, age 80, of Covington, Louisiana passed away surrounded by her loving family on July 28, 2025. She was born on September 9, 1944, in Donaldsonville, Louisiana to James H. and Shirley M. Thibaut.
Beth is survived by her beloved daughter, Debra Scott DeLony; Debra’s husband, Bradley; and her grandson, Garrett – to whom she was fiercely devoted. She is also survived by two brothers, James D. Thibaut (Valerie) and Charles L. Thibaut (Barbara); her brothers-in-law, Kevin Causey and Ward Scott; several nieces and nephews; and her loving companion, David Sanchez.
Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Walter I. Scott, III; her parents James H. Thibaut and Shirley Munson Thibaut; and two siblings, William H. Thibaut and Mary Thibaut Causey.
Beth spent the majority of her career working with her brother Bill at General Computer Services in Donaldsonville. Upon retirement, she moved to Covington to be near Debra and other family. Although Beth always had a passion for gardening, bird watching, and the LSU Fighting Tigers, with a later-acquired affinity for the game of Mahjong and a ride to the coast with David, nothing provided her more joy or filled her heart with more pride than being “Grammie” to Garrett. Beth’s generosity, loyalty, and joie de vivre left an indelible mark on a host of extended family and friends. She will be sorely missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Beth’s life to be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Ourso Funeral Home, 134 Houmas Street, Donaldsonville, LA. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., followed by a short memorial service. Burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Vivian Scott may be made to the American Heart Association. Donation information is found at www.heart.org., under Ways to Give, Honor a Loved One.
