Arlene was born in Denver, Colorado, October 5, 1938 the daughter and fourth child of Albert and Ellen Suggs. She attended grade school in the states of Washington, Nevada and Texas. In 1952 the family relocated to Denver where she graduated from East High School in 1956.
She married Carroll Brown in June 1956 and together they had three children: Brenda, Bret and Bart. In 1977 they were divorced and in 1981 married Chris Christie.
She worked as a house painter for many years before entering the business field, eventually holding the position of executive secretary/coordinator for Edward Electric Construction Company.
In December of 1988 she and Chris moved to Ogallala, Nebraska where she worked as a secretary for several years before becoming a home care provider for the State of Nebraska. Being able to help the elderly in order for them to stay in their own home was of great satisfaction to her.
She was an avid gardener and loved the beauty of flowers, growing and caring for 2200 square feet of flower beds on her property in Nebraska and for a few years she was an active member and officer of the Ogallala Garden Club.
She was a member and president of the Keith County Historical Society for many years. The Mansion on the Hill, a Victorian home and Keith County Landmark was her special interest. With the help of a committee of other women, the yard was completely restored and maintained as a place of beauty.
Antiques were also her interest and she was a member/officer in the antique club called Questers. For fun and laughter with other women she joined the Red Hat Society when it was such a fad and enjoyed many social events together.
In August of 2011 she sold her home in Ogallala and moved back to her home state of Colorado, finding a home in Littleton, Colorado. At that time she joined the Board of Directors for the HOA and assumed the responsibilities of president.
On August 10, 2024 she sold her home and moved to Craig, Colorado to be near her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter Brenda (Richard) Ferrari; daughters in law, Teresa Brown and Carla Brown; special nieces, Peggy (Ron) Sherman, Michelle (Joe) Rounsavell; nephew, Christopher (Wendi) Mebille; seven grandchildren: Amber, Tyson, Lindsey, Whitney, Ashley, Beau, and Zach; twelve great-grandchildren: Saul, Brandon, Kavin, Alex, Gabriel, Madison, Michael, Cameron, Tayleigh, Grayson, Samantha, and Ryland; two great great grandsons, Clayton and Salem; one sister-in-law, Joanne; in laws, Jerry and Carol; many great and great great nieces and nephews.
