Carl William Herold Jr. was born on March 5, 1941, to Carl Sr. and Bonita Herold, outside of Oak Creek, Colorado at their ranch near Morrison Creek. Carl attended and graduated school at Oak Creek Union High. Following high school, Carl attended one year of college in Oklahoma, worked Forest Service trails maintenance, and joined the US Army serving in Germany. Carl married Rita (Moore) Herold in 1962. Ranching was more than just an occupation for Carl; his calling was tied to agriculture and building a strong cow-calf operation. Carl also served with the Community Agriculture Alliance, Routt County Cattlemen’s Association, Colorado Farm Bureau and as a Soroco FFA Advisor.
Carl’s family was very important to him. He delighted in being a husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Carl enjoyed art and oil painting, leathercraft and saddle repair, listening to music and reading.
Carl is proceeded in death by his wife, Rita, his parents, Carl and Bonita (Nay) Herold, sisters, Bonita Steele, Virginia Thorton, Carol Villa and brother Wesley Herold.
